Input data set: Future, gridded population (all SSPs)

Protocol relation: Secondary
Data Type: Socio-economic
Simulation rounds: ISIMIP2b
Description:

Direct human forcings.

Annual global population data at 0.5° and 2.5' resolutions for the years 2006-2100 based on the population projections described in Jones & O’Neill (2016)

Scenarios: SSPs
Variables: pop
Specifications

Linear interpolation of decadal population data

Data source

Jones, B., & O’Neill, B. C. (2016). Spatially explicit global population scenarios consistent with the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways. Environmental Research Letters, 11(8), 084003. http://doi.org/10.1088/1748-9326/11/8/084003

Caveats

Note that the remapped total population does not equal the total from the original resolution due to the simple interpolation algorithm used, but the global total difference is smaller than 0.01% such that it should be good enough for global or even country-scale analysis.
