Input data set: Historical, gridded and country-level population

Direct human forcings.

Population (1860 - 2020) at country level, and on 0.5°x0.5° and 5arcmin grid level

National and gridded historic population data are taken from the History Database of the Global Environment (HYDE) version 3.2.1 (http://themasites.pbl.nl/tridion/en/themasites/hyde/download/index-2.html). Estimates for total as well as urban and rural population counts are available. This does not only extend previously provided population data but might also outdate previous data to a series of bug fixes since HYDE version 3.2.000.

For ISIMIP participants, these files are available for download on the DKRZ server using the path /work/bb0820/ISIMIP/ISIMIP2a/InputData/landuse_humaninfluences/population/ and via an rsync facility (described here: https://www.isimip.org/gettingstarted/data-access/#for-external-non-participant-users), for which the password will be provided upon request (isimip-data@pik-potsdam.de).
