Posted by Martin Park on Oct. 5, 2022

There is an open PostDoc, or PhD position for Global Hydrological Modeling of Drought Hazards available at Goethe Universität Frankfurt. The position is located in the Hydrology Group and funded through the BMBF research project OUTLAST. It will be filled as early as possible and is currently available until 31.08.2025.

You will use and further develop the WaterGAP model to generate seasonal forecasts of drought hazard for human water supply, river ecosystems and land ecosystems (except cropland) for all land areas of the Earth. This requires to optimize, together with end users, drought hazard indicators with respect to their suitability for ensemble-based seasonal forecasts. You will contribute to the current re-programming of the WaterGAP software to enable an operational production of the seasonal forecasts. You will perform the project work and write the related publications in close cooperation with the project partners and the members of the Working Group Hydrology.
